This petition is important to me because as I see it ,we are restricting students from taking up this course, which for them , might be there ambition. Also , our country will benefit as otherwise, we will have to pay thousands of euros to get pilots from abroad.
Because this restriction is costing you g people training as pilots ti.e and money. And most of them have prolonged studies and flying practices because of COVID-19 airport restrictions
to help students
Students will be affected
The issue is affecting someone close.
I have students' interest at heart
Malta has an enviable reputation in aviation circles for flight training, at all levels. These are the future commercial and general aviation pilots. To wilfully destroy this reputation unnecessarily is such a waste of valuable resources.
I'm a student myself
In a country so tied with aviation such as Malta is, watching the GA community struggling to receive training or enjoying their licenses gives no good to the image of the industry. We all, pilots, instructors and students understand the challenges involved in such a revolutionary works happening to the airfield, but there's no justification to not calling the stakeholders, the SME and all the party involved on a table to discuss. I sincerely hope MIA will change their mind and a communication channel can be established for the good of the Maltese aviation.
I'm close to completing my commercial pilot training, I have a loan to pay and I need to find a job soon to pay said loan.
As stated by my fellow student pilots, this is having quite a negative impact in our training to become commercial pilots. We have invested heavily; financially, time and effort to build a respectable career path.
Unfortunately, with these new restrictions it’s making the situation very difficult to practice in an industry where practice is crucial; causing a situation where the negatives outweigh the positives.
Whilst none of my fellow student pilots refutes the importance of runway maintenance to ensure safe operations during flight missions, one must be considerate from the student’s perspective; the risks involved as highlight by a fellow class mate Kyle Verbraeken, to financial burden (all invested from our own pockets), up to practicality.
Having said that, all we ask is the authorities to sympathise with our plight to further our education / training unhindered in a manner where reason, safety and practicality prevails.

We need to maintain our license's current.
A friend of mine will end up having to wait longer to finish his the last stage of the pilot license because of this, an issue which will affect him negatively both career-wise and financially.
PPL holder unable to dedicate time for long distance flights currently.
The importance of new talent in the aviation industry
Our hobby was turned into a nightmare due to these restrictions. Unnecessary ridiculous restrictions
It is affecting my studies
My daughter is being effected by this both in timing and costwise.
This restriction is costing students thousands on an already expensive course which is barely aided at all by the government! It also reduces the safety margin of training flights as they all must be done overseas which is significantly riskier in the event of any incident.
Maintaining license
We are being discriminated by not being allowed to operate. This is causing additional finacial burden, stress, and affecting safety.
Students are being impacted in more ways than one due to these restrictions, which ultimately all result in prolonged training and additional (significant) costs being incurred due to the EASA time limited training regulations. The decision-makers here should reconsider the approach as for sure there can be a more pragmatic solution to this situation.

It is important for me because the cause of what is happening has left and is still leaving a detrimental impact finance wise.
I happen to be funding my course through a loan scheme like many others which due to the extra costs being spent because of this issue, the loan amount will end up being insufficient to complete the remaining courses that I have. This has left a huge upset in my plans and progression to finishing my course.
Other than that another big issue is that loan repayment deadlines are closing in, which I had planned to finish my course beforehand to find a job and be able to start repaying it. While in reality I am at a complete halt in my flight training progression and wasting precious time leaving me helpless at this point.
My husband is studying to become a pilot and these regulations are impacting him badly.
I am a student pilot. This is making it hard for me to continue my training thus limiting my time available in flying and delaying my certifications
Ex student pilot, Runway 23 already was subject to commercial traffic restrictions. Current situation will be the end of all flying schools in Malta if not acted upon.
Effects the education of my child.
A friend of mine who is studying hard to get the pilot license but she is always finding these issues and make it more difficult
I am a student pilot myself!
