As Students, we are being directly affected by these restrictions, which is causing delays in flight training and substantial amount of increase in costs incurred.

I was forced to halt local training and lose currency on various aircraft.
Restrictions Imposed Are Not Fair On Student Pilots. We Spend Thousands Of Euro And These Restrictions Are In The Way Of Persuing The Career Of A Commercial Pilot
Training operations has been halted, leading to a lot of unnecessary costs on students. It is in the interest of the Maltese aviation sector to keep the training operations ongoing to maintain the health of the industry. This is not the first time training has been given the boot, causing delays to students due to lack of effort by MIA to take care of this part of the industry.
It is important that these restrictions are lifted immediately since it is affecting my flight training in terms of money and frequency of flying. Leading to unnecessary and unwanted extra costs together with delays in completing the course!
I am currently a student pilot who is effected directly by these directives. Flights from the beginning of the industrial actions have been costing us students approx. twice the cost when compared to normal operations due to extended holding time, prolonged taxi, priority given to commercial flights, no touch & go's permitted as well as other reasons. With the closure of RWY 23/05 in addition to the various restrictions in place, us students have no other option but to fly 1 hour to & from COMISO to practice exercises - adding a cost of approx. €500/training flight for SEP Aircraft; not to forget the complicated procedures with regards to flight plans, fuel limitations as there is no fuel available in COMISO. Moreover, with the possibility of flying only 3 times per week, we students are risking not finishing the training on time as there are strict time frames related to various training phases. With this directive, not only the availability of aircraft will be limited, but the risk of not completing flight training in time due to W/X, grounding of aircraft, scheduling issues will drastically increase. Ultimately, this will result in the student re-doing some exercises, obviously at a cost.
It is extremely important to me as I am student pilot who needs to get flight training done as Accordingly and not impose more restrictions on students who already have many setbacks on current runway situation . Aviation course is already extremely expensive and time consuming and with further restrictions you are making students life harder than it is supposed to and in this way more expensive. Also by making it harder to study and excel less aspiring pilots will have the go ahead by making their life harder than it needs to be . Also making Malta a biggest economy the tourism sector you need to make restrictions for aspiring pilot as appealing as possible not contrary so not only would you be helping student pilots but also the economy .
Thank you
I am a student Pilot who has been affected by the halting of operations.
I cannot finish my CPL in time, after all this money i had invested
It's very important for my pilot training, I've been flying for more than 30 years and nothing like this has ever happened.
This causes many unnecessary issues with our flight training taking up more time and and makes the training more expensive . Which already many students have a loan for this training which is limited to the usual prices of training this makes our sessions almost 3 times more expensive .
If I couldn't fly, I would never have become a pilot.
Trainee pilots need to train in Malta and given enough slots to finish their practice.
I concur with the petition description as it gives voice to all of the challenges that student pilots already face. We need more support and less restrictions during this trying time of our flight training.
Apart from all the extra charges and costs we're enduring and the waste of time, some of us have to meet certain deadlines otherwise we will have to redo a portion of the training.

Because students need their practice and the course is already a very expensive one .. they don’t need the extra expense which is beyond their control.
It is unfair for an airport that caters for pilot schools to not allow them to fly and progress for months
Because I need to finish my flight training for the PPL
because it’s my best friend’s dream is to become a pilot
I am currently a student with European Pilot Academy Malta
It is impossible to complete my pilot training considering we are only allowed to fly 3 days a week when combined with work, bad weather and maintenance.
Because am a student pilot, and as everyone I wasn’t expecting to spend much time and money in this training which will now add up another year that wasn’t in budget, plus a lot money if being spent for no training , and the more we take time between training , the more I end up repeating training cause a lot of things you end up forgetting them
I am a student pilot myself facing these problems.
It effects the education of a family member
It effects A family member and it effects her education
We do not receive any stipend and now we have to put up with unnecessary additional costs (thousands of euros). Also would love to thank MIA for privatising a huge parking space and calling LESA wardens to issue tickets when we're parked in a huge empty street which magically doesn't have any parking spots so that MIA can make a few more thousand with their millions in profit. Corporate greed and monopoly abuse
Because it’s crazy that in 2023 in this county, an eu member student pilots need to beg to use runway time
Limitations of these kind will limit the opportunity to get propper, reliable, consistent and safe flight training. Also it will force the training facilities to make choices to move their training out of Malta and limit the opportunity for all Maltees students to get started their prosperous career.
It is un-ethical if not illegal to cause disruptions to education, especially that which is costong students a fortune.
Trainees need relevant and adequate time to train, specifically because they need to maintain certain number of flights within a specific period of time.
