Neuer Petitionstext: Der Nord-Ostsee-Kanal (NOK) befindet sich aufgrund jahrzehntelanger Vernachlässigung in einem desolaten technischen Zustand. Es fehlt an regelmäßiger, umfassender Instandhaltung. Auch fehlt es an Ausbau und Modernisierung zum Erhalt seiner Attraktivität für den internationalen Schiffsverkehr.
Wir fordern dazu auf die dringend erforderlichen Mittel und das Personal für:
1. die Erhaltungsmaßnahmen
2. den Kanalausbau
zur Verfügung zu stellen.
Due to decades of neglect, the Kiel Canal is in a desolate technical condition. Regular, comprehensive maintenance has been reduced to a level of negligence, and there is a dramatic lack regarding the expansion and modernization to maintain its attractiveness for international shipping.
We call to provide the much needed equipment and personnel for:
1. the maintenance
2. the expansion. Neue Begründung: Der Nord-Ostsee-Kanal als meistbefahrene, künstliche Wasserstraße der Welt ist von nationaler und internationaler Bedeutung beim Transport von ca. 100 Mio. Tonnen Ladung pro Jahr.
Ohne das reibungslose Funktionieren des NOK verliert Hamburg seine Bedeutung im Welthandel und damit die deutschen Ostseehäfen ihren wichtigsten Zubringer. Es stehen deshalb tausende von Arbeitsplätzen im Zusammenhang mit der Befahrbarkeit des NOK auf dem Spiel.
The Kiel Canal, the busiest artificial waterway in the world, is of national and international importance in the transport of approximately 100 million tons of cargo annually.
Without the proper functioning of the Kiel Canal, Hamburg looses its role in world trade and thus the German Baltic ports their major hub. Therefore thousands of jobs related to the navigability of the Kiel Canal are at stake.
