When starting the petition we fixed the end of it according to the planned vote about the draft of the cultural property legislation at the German cabinet on August 26, 2015. Now this vote has been postponed to September. In addition, it is promised to publish a third revised draft of the new legislation. Our petition has contributed to this success. Many politicians were impressed by the number of signers and the quality of the commentaries which can be found at this page.

As many potential supporters of the petition were out of office due to the German holiday season, we have decided to prolong the petition. We are hoping that this will give us the opportunity to extend the collection of signatures from the Internet to “real” events like coin shows and auction sales.
