Am 11.5.2016 habe ich die Petition „Für den Erhalt des privaten Sammelns“ offiziell beim Petitionsausschuss des deutschen Bundestages eingereicht. Der Petitionsausschuss hatte mich kontaktiert und gebeten, dies möglichst schnell zu tun, da die Abstimmung über das Gesetz bereits für den Juni geplant ist. Nun hat die Petition ein Aktenzeichen, und der Petitionsausschuss wird seine Fragen stellen.
Grund für die Initiative des Petitionsausschusses waren die Mails, die Sie an Herrn Bundestagspräsidenten Norbert Lammert geschrieben haben. Zusammen mit dem Buch, das wir aus unserer Petition gemacht und an ALLE Bundestagsabgeordneten geschickt haben, haben Ihre Stellungnahmen den Politikern gezeigt, dass es nicht nur die Archäologen und die Verbände gibt, sondern dass viele Bürger der Bundesrepublik daran interessiert sind, wie das neue Kulturgutschutzgesetz beschaffen sein wird.
Es nutzt also doch, etwas zu unternehmen, oder wie Günther Eich es fünf Jahre nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs formuliert hat:
Nein, schlaft nicht, während die Ordner der Welt geschäftig sind!
Seid misstrauisch gegen ihre Macht, die sie vorgeben für euch erwerben zu müssen.
Wacht darüber, dass eure Herzen nicht leer sind, wenn mit der Leere eurer Herzen gerechnet wird!
Tut das Unnütze, singt die Lieder, die man aus eurem Mund nicht erwartet!
Seid unbequem, seid Sand, nicht das Öl im Getriebe der Welt!
Das Foto ist übrigens ein kleiner Blick hinter die Kulissen. 630 Bücher zu verschicken ist eine logistische Aufgabe, die von den Mitarbeiterinnen der MünzenWoche bravourös in drei Dutzend Stunden bewältigt wurde.

On 11 May 2016 I addressed officially the petition “For preserving the right to privately collect” to the petition committee of the German Bundestag. The petition committee had contacted me and asked me to do this as soon as possible as the vote about the new law is planned for June. Now our petition has an official reference number, and the petition committee will start to ask its questions.
The initiative of the petition committee had a reason. They referred to the emails you had written to the president of the Bundestag Norbert Lammert. And they referred to the book we had made about our petition featuring not only information about collecting, but also the signatures of all our supporters. We sent this book to ALL 630 delegates of the German Bundestag. And I am sure some of these politicians were very surprised how many collectors in Germany and all over the world are interested in the new German law about the protection of cultural property.
You see, it makes sense to get up and act or – as the German poet Günther Eich expressed it five years after the end of World War Second:
Be recalcitrant! Be the sand, not the oil in the mechanism of our world!
By the way, the photo is a glimpse behind the scenes: it’s a huge logistic challenge to post 630 books. Thanks to our hardworking colleagues in Berlin – yes, we have staff in Berlin – this task was finished within three dozens of hours.
