Was wird aus unseren Kindern, wenn unser Baseballstadion geschlossen wird? Wir haben mit so viel Arbeit und Liebe einen Verein für Alle geschaffen - das darf uns nicht genommen werden!!

Während in diesem Jahr Softball und Baseball nach langer Zeit endlich wieder olympisch werden, wurde dem Baseball- und Softballverein der Cologne Cardinals in Müngersdorf vom Sportamt der Stadt Köln ein Mietvertrag angeboten, der keinen Trainings- und Spielbetrieb mehr zulässt. So sind z.B. Nutzungszeiten ausschließlich zwischen 18-20:30 Uhr während der Woche für ein Training mit so vielen Mannschaften, vor allem auch mit Kindern nicht umsetzbar.

Der Verein mit einem großen Kinder-und Jugendbereich, aber auch einer Herrenmannschaft in der 1. Bundesliga und einer aufstrebenden Damensoftballmannschaft vor einem Aufstieg in die 1. Bundesliga stehen zum 31.07.21 vor dem Aus. Dann würde der Trainingsbetrieb eingestellt werden müssen, der Platz seitens des Sportamts nicht mehr zur Verfügung stehen.

Wir bitten euch um Hilfe und Unterstützung. Der Verein mit heutzutage moderaten Mitgliedsbeiträgen bietet dem Kölner Westen ein Breitensportangebot, insbesondere für die 150 Kinder- und Jugendliche, das bei Auflösung des Vereins ersatzlos entfallen würde.

While softball and baseball has finally become Olympic again this year after a long time, the Cologne Cardinals baseball and softball club in Müngersdorf has been offered a lease by the Sports Department of the City of Cologne that no longer allows for training and game operations. For example, usage times exclusively between 6-8:30 p.m. during the week are not feasible for training with so many teams, especially with children.

The club caters for a large number of junior and youth players, but also a men's team in the 1st Bundesliga and an aspiring women's softball team on the brink of promotion to the 1st Bundesliga. Now we are supposed to sign a contract before the end of July that would mean the end of our club. If we don't sign, the training operation would have to be stopped as the sports department might refuse access to the baseball grounds.

We ask you for your help and support. The club with moderate membership fees offers fun and competition plays that are inclusive of all ages and skill levels - from beginners to Bundesliga and national team players, from 3 years onwards. It would be a tragic loss, in particular for the 150 children and young people!
