We therefore call on the Diocese of Speyer to:
- Immediately stop the premature closure of the conference operations.
- Suspend the demolition plans for Buildings A, B, and the Guest House.
- Ensure transparency by disclosing and allowing independent review of all reports, plans, and costs.
- Reconsider the decision after hearing all stakeholders.
- Establish a round table with investors, donors, volunteers, and the local political community.

Maria Rosenberg has been a spiritual home for countless people for centuries. It includes the Chapel of Grace, the Pilgrimage Church, the Stifterhaus, the Guest House, as well as the education buildings A and B.
Every year, around 10,000 overnight guests visit Rosenberg. Here they encounter a living Christian faith, carried by enthusiasm – conveyed by the staff and the many volunteers on site.
According to the current plans of the Diocese of Speyer, the conference and overnight operations are to be closed on June 30, 2026. In addition, as part of the planned renovation of the Stifterhaus and the arcades, the demolition of Buildings A and B as well as the Guest House is foreseen.
If this decision remains in place, it will no longer be possible for families or groups to stay overnight at Rosenberg. At the same time, numerous conference and group rooms for educational programs as well as for church and Christian communities will be lost. The loss of around 100 beds cannot be compensated for by other accommodations.
All of this is at stake if the overnight and conference operations are prematurely discontinued and the buildings are demolished.
Thank you very much for your support,
Christian Wilhelm on behalf of the organizing team of the Friends of Maria Rosenberg
