Direct flight Bremen to Pafos: connect northern Germany with Cyprus at last

Die Verbindung ließe sich ohne zusätzliches Flugzeug in Deutschland bedienen. Der zyprische Flughafenbetreiber Hermes Airports fördert neue Strecken noch bis 2027 mit erheblichen finanziellen Anreizen und baut das Terminal in Paphos gerade um 30 Prozent aus.
Die Initiatorin bzw. der Initiator der Petition wurde von der openPetition-Redaktion auf den Verstoß gegen die Nutzungsbedingungen aufmerksam gemacht und hatte fünf Tage Zeit, die Petition zu überarbeiten. Dies ist nicht erfolgt. Die Petition wurde deswegen gesperrt.

Demand
We call on Flughafen Bremen GmbH and Ryanair to evaluate and introduce a year-round direct connection between Bremen and Pafos, Cyprus, with at least two weekly rotations, at the earliest possible schedule.
Justification
Ryanair already serves Pafos year-round from four German airports: Berlin, Weeze, Cologne/Bonn and Memmingen. Not one of them is in northern Germany. Around 13 million people live in the catchment area of Bremen Airport, with no Pafos connection at all and only a single direct Cyprus link of any kind.
2025 was the strongest year for German arrivals in Cyprus in 28 years. The Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism has officially declared Germany a focus market.
A large German-speaking community has grown in the Pafos district in recent years, with monthly meetups, German childcare, German-speaking doctors, lawyers and media. These people travel home several times a year, in winter as well as summer. At the same time, tourism from northern Germany to Cyprus is growing year after year.
Anyone travelling from Bremen, Oldenburg, Hamburg or Hannover to Pafos today needs 6 to 12 hours with a connection. The alternative is flying to Larnaca and then driving for over an hour.
Yet the route is commercially viable. Ryanair is expanding in Bremen in 2026 and operates its own base in Pafos with several based aircraft, so the connection could be flown without tying up an aircraft in Germany. Hermes Airports, the Cypriot airport operator, supports new routes with substantial financial incentives until 2027 and is currently expanding the Pafos terminal by 30 percent.
A direct flight strengthens Bremen Airport, tourism in both directions, and the connection between the northern German economy and one of the most dynamic regions in the Mediterranean.
