Florian Schneider war ein Sohn Düsseldorfs und er hat zusammen mit Ralf Hütter als Band Kraftwerk den Namen Düsseldorf in der ganzen Welt bekannt gemacht. Jetzt nach seinem Tod ist es Zeit, dass sich die Stadt, bei ihm dafür bedankt. Was wäre da passender, als eine der Autobahnen rund um Düsseldorf mit seinem Namenszusatz zu versehen?

Natürlich liegt die Verwaltung der Autobahnen in Deutschland beim Bund, allerdings könnte Düsseldorf eine Anregung zur Umbenennung einreichen. Und sei es nur der Name einer Autobahnbrücke oder eine Straße namens "Autobahn" mit einem Zusatzschild mit Informationen über Florian Schneider, einen Park, ein Veranstaltungsort.... Ganz egal was, aber es sollte etwas sein, was sein Gedenken in die Zukunft trägt. Außerdem hat Kraftwerks Lied "Autobahn" dazu geführt, dass dieser Begriff weltweit nicht mehr nur mit Hitler in Verbindung gebracht wird. Und das allein wäre schon eine Würdigung wert.

Florian Schneider was a son of Düsseldorf and together with Ralf Hütter he made the name Düsseldorf known in the whole world with his band Kraftwerk. Now after his death it is time for the city to thank him for this. What could be more fitting than to give his name to one of the Highways around Düsseldorf? (as a name suffix)

Of course, the management of motorways in Germany is the responsibility of the federal government, but Düsseldorf could submit a proposal to rename the motorway. Even giving an "Autobahn"-bridge his name would be nice or giving a street in Düsseldorf the name "Autobahn" and an additional sign with information about Florian Schneider. His legacy should be honored, whether naming a street, a park, a community center or a school after him. Moreover, Kraftwerk's song "Autobahn" has led to the fact that this term is no longer associated worldwide only with Hitler. And that alone would be worth an appreciation.
