"Has Kane forgotten the EPL already? That's a red card!"...former EPL referee's 'criticism'
Reason
The big match between Arsenal and Bayern Munich was marred by a foul.
The two teams played to a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarterfinal first leg of the 2023-24 season at the Emirates Stadium in London, England, on Tuesday.
The game was tight. Bayern Munich opened the scoring in the 12th minute, before Serge Gnabry equalized in the 18th minute and Harry Kane pulled one back in the 32nd minute. Arsenal equalized in the 31st minute of the second half through Leandro Torosar to settle for a 2-2 draw.
While the game was billed as a classic, it was also full of officiating controversy. One of the most notable was the failure to award a penalty to Boukayo Sakho after he was tripped by Manuel Neuer in second-half stoppage time.
There was also a foul on Kane. In the 10th minute of the second half, Kane elbowed Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes in the neck during a contest for an aerial ball. Magalhaes went down instantly. Instead of a red card, Kane received a yellow card. This, too, is at the center of controversy. Many believe he should have been shown a red card. Social 먹튀검증 media has criticized Kane strongly, even bringing up his foul against Magalhaes during his time at Tottenham.
Former EPL referee Kes Hackett stepped up to the plate to put an end to the controversy. He gave his expert opinion in the Telegraph. The bottom line: Kane should have been sent off.
"Kane should have been sent off against Arsenal. He swung his elbow at Magalhaes. It was a dangerous, reckless and excessive use of force. You can see Kane looking back at Magalhaes to see where he was positioned. Kane knew exactly what he was doing," the organization argued.
"Kane is very lucky to get a yellow card for using his elbow as a weapon against an opposing defender. If Kane had done the same foul in the EPL, he would have been sent off. I would have given him a red card as well," he emphasized.
Kane spent his entire career in England before moving to Bayern Munich this season. He knows the EPL all too well. The intensity of the fouls, the officiating. He's been in Germany for less than a year and he's already forgotten the EPL. The UCL referee saved Kane, not the EPL. In the EPL, he wouldn't have played the next game.
