finally, a ceasefire! Now we need pressure to ensure that it becomes permanent and leads to a political solution with equal rights for all. The demands in our petition remain as relevant as ever.
After a first rally “For a just peace in Palestine and Israel” on 18 October in Berlin, followed by further rallies in Bremen and Munich, there will now be parallel rallies in Berlin, Cologne and Nuremberg on 15 February. We’d like to share the following call of the organizers of those rallies with you:
We invite you to take to the streets with us: for a permanent end to the killing and to stop arms exports. For a just peace in Palestine and Israel!
The people in the Gaza strip are far from safe yet. After the International Court of Justice had ruled already a year ago that there was a “real and imminent risk” of genocide, violence and displacement by the Israeli army escalated further – and the Israeli government is explicitly keeping all its options open to continue this war. In the West Bank, the violence by the army and the settlers has further increased since the deal, and Trump has rescinded US sanctions against responsible settlers. The German government continues to support the illegal actions of the Israeli government with its one-sided solidarity, its partisanship before international courts and its renewed extensive licensing of arms exports. At the same time, it has further exacerbated the massive infringements on the freedom of expression and assembly in Germany through the adoption of the resolution on antisemitism in parliament.
We are firmly opposed to the criminalization of legitimate protest. We condemn all war crimes, whether by the Israeli government, Hamas or other groups. We express our solidarity with all victims and with those who work for peace and equal rights for all. Take to the streets with us: for a just peace in Palestine and Israel!
In parallel with the rallies, smaller actions are being organized in as many towns as possible. These could for instance participate in our joint minute of silence, collect signatures or read out the rally call. If you’d consider taking part in organizing such an action, write to us at kontakt@gerechter-frieden.org. We’ll be happy to assist if you have questions e.g. about registration or practicalities.
📣 Take an active part and spread the word about the rallies – online and offline. You’ll find the call as well as all materials and information on the planned rallies in Berlin, Cologne and Nuremberg as well as the supporting organizations here: gerechter-frieden.org
as announced in our last message, the rally “For a just peace in Palestine and Israel – Protect civilians, stop arms exports!” took place in Berlin on October 18, whose topics and demands where very similar to those of our petition. (However, the petition and the rally are different initiatives supported by different sets of organizations). You can view the individual speeches at the rally here: gerechter-frieden.org/contributions/ .
After much positive feedback about the rally, there will now also be local rallies in other cities with a similar call. If you‘re interested in taking part in such a rally near you or perhaps even contributing to organizing one, please write to the organizers of the Berlin rally at kundgebung@gerechter-frieden.org, mentioning your whereabouts; they can then get you in touch with a corresponding rally or each other.
thank you for supporting the petition "for a just peace in Gaza"! We’ve now collected more than 14,500 signatures.
We want to make you aware of a rally on Friday, 18 October 2024. Under the heading "For a just peace in Palestine and Israel – Protect civilians, stop arms exports!", a broad alliance of more than 30 organizations is calling for a protest at the Federal Chancellery; the content and demands are very similar to those of the petition.
The rally calls on the German government to use all available means for securing an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire between the parties to the conflict. It also demands not to supply any arms to Israel if there is a risk that they will be used in violation of international law. You’ll find the entire call and further information on the rally on this website: gerechter-frieden.org/call .
When: Friday, 18 October 2024, 5pm to 7pm
Where: At the Federal Chancellery, Willy-Brandt-Straße, Spreebogenpark, 10557 Berlin
Help us mobilize people, spread this email, and take to the streets with us. Against the silence and against the German double standards on international law! For a just peace in Palestine and Israel!

Neue Begründung:
More than 40,000 people in Palestine and more than 1,200 people in Israel have been killed in the current war. Moreover, there are at least 92,000 wounded and countless missing persons as well as deep traumatization. This escalation of violence must be stopped. Especially the civilian population in Gaza is suffering from the catastrophic situation caused by the repeated displacement of nearly two million people in their own country, with humanitarian aid being blocked, power and water supply being cut off and destruction on a massive scale. The UN speaks of a famine and a medical emergency. The situation in Gaza is not the result of natural disaster, but of indiscriminate violence and a deliberate blockade. The German government’s political reaction to this situation must change fundamentally.
