It's a trade bonanza. The Los Angeles Dodgers are all smiles.
The Dodgers won 6-3 against the Minnesota Twins in the 2024 Major League Baseball World Series at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Tuesday (July 10).
Starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow was the star of the game for the Dodgers. Glasnau was acquired in a trade prior to the season and signed a five-year, $135.625 million contract upon joining the Dodgers.
Reason
The Dodgers had enough faith in Glasnau to send him to the mound for the opening game against the San Diego Padres at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul last month. He pitched five innings of two-hit ball, allowing two runs on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts to earn the Dodgers' opening day victory.
Since returning to the United States, Glasnow has continued his winning ways. After picking up his first win of the season on May 29 against the St. Louis 바카라 Cardinals with six innings of two-hit ball, one walk, five strikeouts, and one earned run, Glasnau pitched six innings of four-hit ball, two walks, seven strikeouts, and three earned runs in a Quality Start (QS) against the San Francisco Giants on April 4 to pick up his second win of the season and lead the Dodgers to a victory.
Glasnow's fantastic pitching continued against Minnesota. He threw seven innings of three-hit ball, striking out 14 and walking none on just 88 pitches. It was the first time a starter has thrown fewer than 90 pitches and struck out 14 in a game since 1988, when Major League Baseball began keeping official pitch counts.
His four-seam fastball, which reached 98.3 mph (158 km/h), was the star of the show. His slider has also been in great shape, touching 93.6 mph (151 km/h), and with the no-hitter, Glasnow lowered his season ERA to 2.25 and picked up his third win of the season.
The Dodgers' bats were also on fire. After taking a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning on James Outman's three-run homer to center field, the Dodgers took a 6-0 lead in the fifth inning on Will Smith's three-run shot to right field.
Shohei Ohtani, batting second for the Dodgers, added a two-run double and finished 1-for-5. Ohtani is the first Dodgers player to record 12 extra-base hits in his first 14 games. Ohtani now has three home runs, eight doubles, and one triple.
The Dodgers quickly moved to the 10-win plateau with the win. At 10-4 on the season, the Dodgers lead the National League West and are cruising toward a World Series title.
