Petition is addressed to: Bürgermeister Hans-Martin Schertl
We, the undersigned residents of Vilseck and concerned citizens, respectfully request that measures be taken to improve safety at the school bus stop on Bahnhofstraße. This section of the road has become a challenging and potentially hazardous crossing, particularly for schoolchildren.
Recently, there have been two incidents where children were struck by cars while crossing from the school bus, resulting in serious injuries. These accidents highlight the urgent need for improved safety measures. The combination of vehicles entering town at higher speeds and the complexity of three roads merging onto Bahnhofstraße makes this crossing particularly difficult.
To prevent further accidents and ensure a safer environment for pedestrians, we kindly request the city to consider the following solutions:
1. A clearly marked pedestrian crosswalk
2. A traffic light or flashing warning signal
3. Additional road signage to alert drivers to school bus activity
4. A designated crossing guard during school transport times
5. A general reduced speed limit in the area.
As a community, we want to ensure that children can travel to and from school safely. We believe that with the right precautions in place, we can prevent further incidents and make Bahnhofstraße a safer road for everyone.

We appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to your support in addressing this important safety concern.
