The NC Dinos and Hanwha Eagles couldn't decide the game until the 12th inning.

NC and Hanwha tied 5-5 in the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League on Thursday at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon, South Korea.

The result moves NC to second place with 23 wins, one draw and 17 losses, one point behind third-place Doosan. Hanwha moved to 16 wins, one draw and 24 losses. The Kiwoom Heroes defeated the LG Twins, dropping Hanwha one spot from eighth place to ninth.

Hanwha starter Ryu Hyun-jin allowed two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out eight in six innings. The offense exploded for three wins, but the bullpen was unable to preserve the victory, leaving him without a win. Ryu had to settle for his fifth quality start of the season (six or more innings of three runs or less).

NC starter Castano went seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits (one home run) with five strikeouts and no walks, but was left without a win.

The game was a pitcher's duel until the fourth inning. Ryu put runners on second and third in the third inning, but didn't allow a runner to reach second base the rest of the way. Castano gave up back-to-back singles in the second inning, but struck out Young-mook Hwang on three pitches to end the inning.

The tide turned in the fifth inning. Kim Ju-won led off the inning with an infield single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Do Tae-hoon. Ryu Hyun-jin struck out Son As-seob on three pitches, but gave up a single to center to Seo Ho-cheol for the first run.

The Hanwha bats came alive. In the bottom of the fifth, Hanwha put runners on first and third with no outs after back-to-back singles by Lee Do-yoon and Kim Kang-min. After Hwang Young-mook grounded out to second and Choi In-ho struck out swinging, it looked like the inning would end there. That's when Kim Tae-yeon hit 먹튀검증 a 143-kilometer pitch from Castano for a three-run home run to left field. Kim's second home run of the season.

NC fought back. In the sixth inning, Kwon Hee-dong and Kim Hyung-joon drew walks to put runners on first and second. Kim Joo-won was out on an infield fly to shortstop, but Do Tae-hoon followed with an RBI single to right-center to put pressure on Hanwha.

NC turned the game around in the seventh inning. Hanwha manager Choi Won-ho pulled Ryu Hyun-jin to start the seventh inning and sent Kim Kyu-yeon to the mound. After getting two outs, Kim walked Davidson, hit Kwon Hee-dong, and walked Kim Sung-wook to load the bases. Choi Won-ho quickly sent Lee Min-woo to the mound. Kim Hyung-jun hit a 141-kilometer fastball from Lee Min-woo for a three-run double to tie the game. Ryu's win was gone.

Hanwha didn't go down without a fight. NC pulled Castano in the eighth inning and brought in Ryu Jin-wook. Choi In-ho and Kim Tae-yeon singled, but Ahn Chi-hong hit a solo home run to turn the tide. Ahn's third home run of the season. Peraza followed with a double, and manager Kang Kwon-hyun brought in closer Lee Yong-chan. Noh Si-hwan, the No. 4 hitter in the lineup, hit an RBI double to tie the game at 5-5.

The game went into extra innings as the two teams were unable to tie the game in the ninth inning.

NC had its best chance in the top of the 12th inning. Kim Sung-wook led off with an infield single, and Kim Joo-won was hit by a pitch and Do Tae-hoon walked to load the bases. However, Son Asub grounded out to first base and Seo Ho-chul grounded out to first base to end the threat.

Hanwha had one last chance in the bottom of the 12th when Kim Tae-yeon singled. Ahn Chi-hong struck out for the final out, but Kim Tae-yeon stole second base to load the bases. Kang then walked Peraza to load the bases with one out, bringing in Roh Si-hwan. Noh struck out to end the game in a 5-5 tie.
