Petition is addressed to: German Government

.Petition to Stop the Deportation of Ethiopian Citizens from Germany
To: The German Government, The European Union, The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and Human Rights Organizations
Subject: Halt the Deportation of Ethiopian Asylum Seekers in Germany
We, the undersigned, urge the German government to immediately stop the deportation of Ethiopian citizens and review their asylum cases with consideration of the ongoing humanitarian and political crisis in Ethiopia.
Why This Matters

  • Human Rights Violations in Ethiopia: Ethiopia faces severe internal conflicts, ethnic violence, and political repression. Deporting individuals back to such conditions puts their lives at risk.
  • Violation of International Refugee Rights: Germany has a moral and legal responsibility under the 1951 Refugee Convention and the European Convention on Human Rights to protect asylum seekers from deportation to unsafe conditions.
  • Unfair Asylum Process & Risk of Persecution: Many Ethiopian asylum seekers have not had fair hearings or proper legal representation. Deporting them means sending them back to persecution, imprisonment, or even death.
  • Need for Integration, Not Deportation: Many Ethiopian migrants in Germany have built lives, worked, studied, and contributed to German society. Forcing them to leave undermines integration efforts and disrupts families and communities.

Our Demands

  1. Stop all deportations of Ethiopian asylum seekers immediately.
  2. Conduct fair case reviews considering the current crisis in Ethiopia.
  3. Ensure access to legal aid and proper asylum procedures for all Ethiopian asylum seekers.
  4. Work with international organizations like UNHCR to find humane alternatives to deportation.

We call on human rights advocates, legal organizations, and concerned citizens to stand with Ethiopian asylum seekers and demand justice. Every signature brings us closer to protecting vulnerable individuals from danger.

Reason

Your claim to stop the deportation of Ethiopian citizens from Germany is important for several humanitarian, legal, and social reasons. Here’s why urgent action is needed:
1. Human Rights and Protection Needs
Many Ethiopian asylum seekers fled their country due to political persecution, ethnic conflicts, or human rights violations. Deporting them could expose them to imprisonment, torture, or even death. Germany, as a democratic nation, has an obligation to uphold human rights and provide protection to those in danger.
2. Ethiopia’s Political Instability
Ethiopia is experiencing ongoing conflicts, particularly in regions like Tigray, Amhara, and Oromia. Deporting individuals to a country with internal displacement, armed violence, and humanitarian crises is morally and legally questionable.
3. Legal and Humanitarian Responsibilities
Germany, as part of the EU, is bound by international refugee laws, including the 1951 Refugee Convention and the European Convention on Human Rights. Deporting individuals without a fair reassessment of their situation could violate these obligations.
4. Integration and Contribution to Society
Many Ethiopian migrants in Germany have lived there for years, contributing to society by working, studying, and integrating into communities. Deportation disrupts lives and wastes the potential of people who can positively contribute to the country’s economy and social fabric.
**5. Urgency

Not yet a PRO argument.
