Petition is addressed to: Bundestag
Germany sees itself as a child-friendly country where families should be the focus. However, in practice, parents often face considerable pressure when their children become ill. Currently, parents are required to submit a medical certificate to their employer from the first day of their child's illness. This leads to unnecessary stress, additional doctor visits, and a significant burden for families and medical practices.
We therefore demand that parents only be required to submit a medical certificate from the third day of their child's illness.
An initiative by former Federal Health Minister Lauterbach unfortunately did not result in legislation! Support our petition and set an example for more family-friendliness in Germany! Sign now so that together we can improve the framework for families!
Reason
Why is this important?
- Strengthening family friendliness: Parents should be able to focus on their child's recovery first without having to immediately undertake organizational work.
- Relieving the burden on doctor's offices: Fewer unnecessary doctor visits for mere sick notes create capacity for truly necessary treatments.
- Stress reduction for parents: Balancing family and work life is made easier when bureaucratic pressure in acute illness situations is reduced.
A child-friendly country recognizes that families need time and space to care for their sick children – without the need for immediate proof.
