Familien haben unterschiedliche Bedürfnisse: Während einige auf Ganztagsbetreuung angewiesen sind, wünschen sich andere bewusst mehr Zeit für individuelle Förderung, Vereine oder familiäre Betreuung. Eine verpflichtende Ganztagsschule wird dieser Vielfalt nicht gerecht. Wahlfreiheit stellt sicher, dass das Wohl des Kindes im Mittelpunkt steht und Familien selbst entscheiden können, welches Modell am besten zu ihrer Lebenssituation passt.

Bei Ganztageskonzepten geht es um mehr als Betreuung. Es geht um gute Bildung und wie diese umgesetzt werden kann. Im Ganztag kann viel besser rhythmisiert werden, der Unterricht kann offener gestaltet werden und es erhöht die Chancengleichheit der Kinder. Lernen funktioniert nicht im 45-Minuten-Takt. In einem gutem Ganztageskonzept kommt man dem individuellen Lernen der Kinder viel näher.
