Our demands to you:
🔴 Withdraw motion A0066/26!
🛡️ Prioritize traffic safety and the protection of vulnerable road users!
🚴 The protected bike lane stays! Instead of dismantling it, we demand an evaluation and optimization with citizen participation.
🌍 Consistently pursue the city’s climate and mobility goals!
The meeting is scheduled for April 23, 2026 – time is running out!
Show responsibility: Withdraw the motion and advocate for a city with zero traffic fatalities—one that is bike-friendly and climate-neutral!
Begründung
Dear Sirs and Madams,
Your motion A0066/26 calls for the immediate removal of the protected bike lane on Große Diesdorfer Straße—even during the agreed-upon trial period!
Furthermore, the official statements available to date support the continuation of the measure:
- The city explicitly describes the protected bike lane as a measure to improve traffic safety
- According to city officials, no significant impacts on emergency access routes or the overall traffic situation have been reported so far
- The measure was coordinated with input from the fire department, MVB, and city officials
- Große Diesdorfer Straße remains part of the planned bicycle corridors and bike routes
The trial period must be observed:
The Protected Bikelane was introduced as a 12-month pilot project (starting in June 2025) to collect data and evaluate the results. Premature removal prevents a thorough assessment and undermines evidence-based transportation policy.
Why your motion A0066/26 must be withdrawn:
✅ Vision Zero requires safe infrastructure: Protected bike lanes are a key component of achieving zero traffic fatalities.
✅ Respect the trial period: Ending it prematurely disregards the agreed-upon rules.
✅ The City of Magdeburg is pursuing climate protection goals that require a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions from transportation.
Thank you very much for your support,
Lisa Gerbermann
