Petition addressed to: Rat der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf

We call on the City Council of Düsseldorf not to approve the planned increase in residential parking permit fees and to maintain the current fee structure.

Reason

Up to €180 instead of €25: The City of Düsseldorf plans to increase residential parking permit fees by more than sevenfold.

An increase of this magnitude is difficult for many residents to understand. Especially during economically challenging times, the city should avoid placing additional financial burdens on its citizens.
Many households in Düsseldorf are already under considerable financial pressure. Rising rents, higher energy costs, increased living expenses, and numerous fee increases have significantly added to the financial burden on residents in recent years. Against this backdrop, another substantial increase in costs is not appropriate.

Furthermore, the planned increase will not improve the parking situation. No additional parking spaces will be created, and there will be no immediate benefits for the affected residents. The additional financial burden is therefore disproportionate to the benefits provided.
Residential parking permits exist to protect local residents from excessive parking pressure in their neighbourhoods. They should not become yet another financial burden for citizens.

We therefore call on the City Council of Düsseldorf not to approve the planned increase in residential parking permit fees and to maintain the current fee structure.

Thank you so much for your support, Nico Imocanin, Düsseldorf
