Freiburg is one in Baden-Württemberg with its private and public animal research facilities already one of the strongholds of animal experiments in the country. Similarly is Baden-Württemberg with an annual "consumption" of 469 605 animals, almost 17% of the total of 2.8 million in federal state comparison of the number one negative ranking when it comes to animal testing. Currently it has become known that the country in Freiburg wants to build at the University Hospital in Breisach road another animal experiment laboratory with holding capacity for 10,000 mice in 3,000 cages. Animal experiments are rejected for ethical, religious, medical and methods critical reasons. People and animals are so different that the results of animal experiments can not be transferred to humans.

In contrast to animal experiments modern non-animal test methods to provide reliable, relevant for humans results and this usually also more cost effective.

Freiburg here could take over the lead, lag behind instead of old patterns.

Reason

When I read this information in our newspaper , for me was immediately clear that something must be done .

Therefore am pleased about every vote against the proposed new building , as long as it comes to the gratuitous torture and killing of sentient beings here .
