Having entered the Major League through a posting system (closed competitive bid), Ohtani chose the Los Angeles Angels after conducting interviews with teams that he wanted. ESPN reported that Ohtani asked most teams in the Major League and interviewed seven teams. On his way to the Los Angeles Angels, Ohtani shared a room with major league stars such as Josh Hamilton, Mike Trout, and Albert Pujols. The Los Angeles Angels quickly became one of the most sought-after teams in the Major League.

основания

Ohtani became a sensation right after his Major League debut. In his first season, he hit .285 with 22 home runs, 61 RBIs and an OPS of 0.925, and a pitcher with four wins, two losses and an ERA of 3.31 to win the American League Rookie of the Year award. Ohtani, who underwent Tommy John surgery in October 2018, played as a batter in the 2019 season, posting a batting average of .286 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs and an OPS of 0.848. The 2020 season was somewhat sluggish. He returned to the mound as a pitcher, but only played in two games, recording one loss and an ERA of 37.80 without a win. He also hit .100 (0.190) as a batter, and seemed to be in danger of both pitching and batting.
However, Ohtani has displayed his strong will to never give up. He has set various records by summoning legendary players of the Major League in succession in the 2021 season. He was always described as the first player to follow suit. Consequently, he played in 155 games with a batting average of 0.257, 46 homers, 100 RBIs and 26 stolen bases, and an OPS of 0.965, and as a pitcher, he pitched in 23 games with nine wins and two losses with a 3.18 ERA and a total of 156 strikeouts in 130 ⅓ innings. Ultimately, he was given the honor of winning the American League MVP in a unanimous vote. Then, in the 2022 season, Ohtani ranked fourth in the Cy Young Award and second in voting as MVP, and achieved an all-time performance in the 2023 season once again. 토토사이트
In the 2023 season, Ohtani played 135 games as a batter with a batting average of 0.274 (151 hits in 497 times at bat), recorded a remarkable 0.304 slugging percentage of 0.654 OPS 1.066, with 44 homers and 26 doubles, eight triples, 95 RBIs, 102 runs, 91 walks, 143 strikeouts, and 20 steals. The slugging percentage and the OPS were career high seasons. He also hit 44 homers, just two shy of the 2021 season record (46). He ranks first in both on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and the total number of on-base hits (325 on-base). He ranks first in overall OPS in the Major League and became the first American League homerun king in his career. Ohtani's career performance as a batter was 0.274 (681 hits in 2483 times at bat), 129 doubles, 29 triples, 171 homers, 437 RBIs, 428 runs, 351 walks, 755 strikeouts, 86 steals, an on-base percentage of 0.366, a slugging percentage of 0.556, and an OPS of 0.922.
He has also displayed remarkable performance as a pitcher. He pitched in 23 games (23 starts) and recorded 10 wins, 5 losses, and an ERA of 3.14. He also successfully shut out one game for the first time in his career. In a total of 132 innings, he allowed 85 hits (11 homers), 50 runs (46 earned), 55 walks, 167 strikeouts, and a WHIP (per-inning on-base percentage) of 0.184. Ohtani's pitching career (five seasons) was 38 wins and 19 losses, with an ERA of 3.01. Amid such stellar performance, he won many trophies after the 2023 season ended. On April 17, he unanimously won the MVP award again after voting for the American League MVP of the Baseball Reporters Association (BBWAA). It was the moment when Ohtani, who was unanimously named the MVP in 2021, returned to his best position in two years. Ohtani was the first player in the history of the big league to win the MVP award twice. Prior to that, he received the Silver Slugger (designated hitter category), which is given to the best hitter in each position, and on January 1, Ohtani won the Edgar Martinez Award, which is given to the best designated hitter, for three consecutive seasons.
