International Humanitarian Initiative Foundation

International Humanitarian Initiative Foundation (IHIF) is an NGO that was set up first in Poland. IHIF objective is to promote humanitarian assistance and provide emergency and psychological care for the refugees, asylum seekers, victims of armed conflicts and emergencies, sick, neglected and orphaned children. In 2001-2004, IHIF implemented medical, psychological and emergency programs providing protection of the civilian victims of armed conflict in the North Caucasus. In later years we set up Polish Centre for Rehabilitation of Tortured in Warsaw. Since 2014 we trained psychologists in crisis intervention and assistance to victims of torture and severe trauma in Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia and in 2016-2017 we provided direct assistance for asylum seekers pushed back from Poland to Belarus. At present we suspended most of our projects in Poland due to lack of protection for the victims of torture and severely traumatised refugees and asylum seekers. We still participate in crisis interventions and monitoring missions in Poland. Our assistance for asylum seekers in sectors of health, mental health and protection, Since 2009 IHIF is a member of European Network of Rehabilitation Centers for Torture Survivors.
