Eine 30-Minuten-Takt Verbindung zwischen Jena und Rudolstadt / Saalfeld ist für die Attraktivität des ÖPNV von enormer Bedeutung. Wesentliche Vorteile für eine attraktive Taktung ergeben sich für Wirtschaft, Tourismus und Umwelt. Eine weitere Verschlechterung des ÖPNV (Stichwort ICE Wegfall) führt zu Unverständnis bei der Bevölkerung und Politikverdrossenheit, da Politische Ziele nicht mit der Lebenswirklichkeit der Bürger übereinstimmen.
