Motorsport gilt manchen als unpassend, weil es ein Eventcharakter ist, der die Geschichte überlagern könnte. Viele sehen darin ein kulturelles Ereignis, das über Generationen gewachsen ist. Wirtschaftliche Bedeutung — Motorsportveranstaltungen bringen Millionenumsätze für Hotels, Gastronomie, Handel und Tourismus. Ein Verbot könnte wirtschaftliche Nachteile für die Stadt bedeuten.
