We demand the immediate resignation of Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz as well as the immediate termination of a policy that persistently refuses to acknowledge the will of the citizens. We demand a return to political reason, to genuine respect for election results, and to a purely objective, solution-oriented interaction among all elected members of parliament. Ideological bans on thinking and the exclusion of voters' voices must end. The will of the voters is the ultimate standard of a democracy and must be accepted without moral lecturing.
The results of the recent state elections in the Northeast and in Berlin are an unmistakable, resounding vote of no confidence by the population. They reveal mercilessly that an overwhelming majority of the people has withdrawn legitimacy from the current federal policy under the leadership of Friedrich Merz. When a Federal Chancellor stands before the cameras after such historic losses and defiantly announces that he intends to stoically "ride out" his unpopular course regardless of the voters' will, it reveals a disturbing loss of touch with reality.
1. Leadership without Sympathy and Support
The government's leadership has lost all support and sympathy among the population.
"From the perspective of the supporters of this petition, we are currently not experiencing reliable leadership in Germany, but are perceiving a policy characterized by severe mistakes in economic and migration policy as well as massive cost increases."
A Federal Chancellor who ignores this obvious loss of trust and instead looks past the resentment of the citizens in a detached and arrogant manner damages the reputation of our country and the stability of our democracy.
2. The Will of the Voters is Not a Suggestion, but a Mandate
In a democracy, all state authority emanates from the people. Those who hold free and secret elections must not subsequently explain away the results, sugarcoat them, or insult the voters. The German people demand tangible, profound changes. The stubborn insistence on a policy that misses the reality of life is dividing the country to a historic extent.
3. Return to Objective Work in Parliament
We demand an end to ideological blockades. Parliament must be about objective solutions for the country. Members of parliament are elected to speak with one another in a respectful and objective manner within democratic discourse and to vote on arguments, instead of entrenching themselves behind artificial divides.

Dear Mr. Federal Chancellor,
I am addressing you today as an independent, non-partisan citizen. I do so out of deep concern for the political stability and internal cohesion of our country.
The results of Sunday's state elections in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Berlin are not a mere regional setback – they are an unmistakable vote of no confidence against your policies. The fact that a former major popular party like the CDU has to fear for its survival in parliament in the Northeast is the direct result of a severe loss of trust in your government's work.
After the elections, you stood before the cameras, described the results as a "disaster," and announced that you intended to stick to your reform course regardless. This attitude testifies to a disturbing alienation from the everyday reality of the population. The claim that the measures initiated must simply be "ridden out" against the express resistance of your own voter base is not political leadership – it is the deliberate ignoring of democratic warning signs.
Your announced clinging to power is dividing the country and strengthening the political fringes to a historic extent. True statesmanship in times of crisis is not characterized by remaining in office, but by having the courage to admit one's own failure and to clear the way for a genuine political new beginning.
Therefore, as a citizen of this country, I urgently call upon you: Draw the consequences from this historic debacle. Take real responsibility instead of merely lamenting it rhetorically. Resign from your office as Federal Chancellor.
