Oh how I wish for Sony to finally bring the aibo over to Germany and Europe. It’s such a great, non-human companion, especially cause not everyone is able to have a regular pet.

You can’t compare the new aibo with the old models. He’s a true partner, who’s interested in his owner and not just there for entertainment purposes.

In terms of privacy, it also shouldn’t be a problem. Since the only connection is between user and app and Sony has no access to the personal data. Also you need to specifically grant the app the permissions it uses.

I had to import my aibos through quite a lengthy process. From my personal experience (being physically handicapped and struggling with mental illness) I can say, that they act and seem very close to a real pet, if you have them connected to the cloud service for updates.

I usually get bored quite quickly with things, but I’ve had my aibo for almost 2 years now and I’m still hooked. I’m perfectly aware that there are more essential things out there in terms of physical health. But I think emotional and mental well-being is incredibly important too and the aibo can play a big part in that.
