Luftreiniger können Übertragungen im nahen face-to-face Kontakt (unter 1,5 m) laut Robert-Koch-Institut nicht verhindern, selbst wenn sie die Zahl der Viren in der Raumluft wirkungsvoll reduzieren. Gegen mit Tröpfchen kontaminierte Oberflächen hilft weder ein Luftreiniger noch Lüften, sondern Abwaschen mit Wasser und Allzweckreiniger oder Spülmittel.
