Liebe Freunde und Freundinnen von Frauenau,
anlässlich des „Tags des offenen Denkmals“ am letzten Wochenende haben wir die Villa von Erwin und Gretel Eisch für Interessierte geöffnet. Der Andrang war enorm, die beiden Führungen hätten wir doppelt und dreifach füllen können. Katharina Eisch-Angus und G. Jo Hruschka haben fast 60 Interessierte aus Frauenau und der Region durch die wunderschöne Villa geführt. Sie haben aus der Hausgeschichte erzählt, aus den Glashütten in Frauenau, von Bolus Krim und der Studioglasbewegung, von Erwin und Gretel, haben über Kunst, Architektur und Denkmalschutz und nicht zuletzt über unsere Pläne zum „Glas Kultur Campus“ gesprochen. Viele Teilnehmer haben ihre Erinnerungen und Stories beigesteuert.

Wir sind richtig überwältigt davon, wieviele Menschen an der Villa Anteil nehmen. Eine ähnliche Resonanz erhalten wir von internationalen Besuchern der Sommerakademie. Allein in diesem Akademiesommer durften wir weit über hundert Menschen die Villa, ihre Kunst und Atmosphäre und ihre Zukunftschancen zeigen.
Die künftige Künstlervilla Eisch, ihre Sanierung und touristische Ausgestaltung steht im Zentrum des grenzüberschreitenden EU-Großprojekts, für das das Bild-Werk derzeit in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Muzeum Šumavy im Böhmerwald und dem Glasmuseum Frauenau den Förderantrag vorbereiten. Wir hoffen auf eine erfolgreiche Antragstellung und auf ausreichende Finanzierung, um im kommenden Frühjahr durchstarten zu können.

Dear friends of Frauenau,
On the occasion of the Open Monument Day in Germany last weekend, we opened Erwin and Gretel Eisch's villa to interested visitors. The turnout was enormous; we could have filled both tours twice or even three times over. Katharina Eisch-Angus and G. Jo Hruschka guided nearly 60 visitors from Frauenau and the surrounding region through the beautiful villa. They talked about the history of the house, the glassworks in Frauenau, Bolus Krim and the studio glass movement, Erwin and Gretel, art, architecture, and monument preservation, and, last but not least, our plans for the “Glass Culture Campus.” Many participants contributed their memories and stories.

We are truly overwhelmed by the public response to the villa. We receive a similar interest from international participants of the summer academy. This summer alone, we have been able to show well over a hundred people the villa, its art and atmosphere, and its future prospects.
The future artists' villa Eisch, its renovation, and tourist development are at the heart of a major cross-border EU project, for which Bild-Werk is currently preparing a funding application in collaboration with the Muzeum Šumavy in the Bohemian Forest and the Frauenau Glass Museum. We hope that the application will be successful and that sufficient funding will be available to get started next spring.
