The YAAM project by the river Spree is under urgent threat to be closed down! We demand the preservation of this open space!
Please sign this petition against the closure of the YAAM and support our cultural and youth work! Neue Begründung: Aufgrund des Interesses eines deutschen Projekteentwicklers steht die Existenz des Yaam am Ostbahnhof akut auf dem Spiel. Das Bezirksamt Friedrichshain / Kreuzberg hat uns darüber informiert, dass es konkrete Hinweise gibt, die für die Bebauung des Geländes am Stralauer Platz sprechen, wo das Yaam seit über 8 Jahren erfolgreich ein multikulturelles, soziales Projekt mit den Schwerpunkten Familie und Jugend, Integration,
Sport, Musik, Graffiti u.v.m. betreibt.

The local district authorities informed us that a german construction company is interested in buying the premises of Stralauer Platz 35, on which the YAAM has spent the last 8 years successfully running a multicultural social project, to build high-rise office buildings.
Our focus on family and youth work, integration, sports and music culture, graffiti and much more has made this open space by the river an essencial part of the art and music scene that makes Berlin into the lively and vibrant city that it is right now.
If politicians and investors don´t aknowledge the importance of such projects as the YAAM and it has to be closed down, it will not only be a great cultural loss for the city but will also be taking away the livelihood from many social and creative workers, international artists, microbusinesses such as african food and handicraft stores, bar staff, musicians, dj´s and so on....
The YAAM is an important meeting point for young and old of all backgrounds and nationalities and we demand its preservation!
