Vom 01.05.2015 bis zum 26.11.2020 wurden 3286 Kinder in Emden geboren, das entspricht einer Rate von ca. 1,6 Geburten pro Tag. Zukünftige soll es tgl. So sein, dass 1-2 Geburten nicht in Emden stattfinden. Statistisch stehen dann 1-2 Frauen jeden Tag vor der Herausforderung außerhalb Emdens zu Entbinden. Emder*innen halten dies für nicht tragbar. Eine Geburt muss prinzipiell Wohnortnahe bei vorhandener Infrastruktur möglich sein.
