I am a doctoral student with a scholarship, I have a student visa and I am not European. My work and visa situation is precarious and limited. My income is very close to the German poverty line. Any economic change of this type affects my economy and is highly demotivating.

Gerechtigkeit

Es ist eine Sache der Gerechtigkeit. Die Politik hat entschieden, dass alle Studierenden ein deutschlandweites Semesterticket bekommen. In Berlin und Brandenburg möchte man aber diese Entscheidung ignorieren. Abgesehen von der schon jetzt prekären Lage der Promovierenden, führt die Entscheidung dazu, dass die BA- und MA-Studierenden, aber absurderweise auch die Profs wegen ihrer Jobtickets für den ÖPNV weniger zahlen als die Promotionsstudierenden. Das ist nicht gerecht!

There is no reason to exclude PhD students from the privilege of the student ticket. In these difficult times society should protect every productive or non-productive member. We need to stop lowering the expectations and at the same time we need to ask at least for the bear minimum. A means of transport is necessary for a student, PhD or not.
